Tariff Update for COMC Customers in Canada

The Government of Canada has announced new counter-tariffs on certain goods imported from the United States beginning September 8. Based on the new tariff schedule, trading cards shipped from COMC to Canada will be subject to an additional 50% counter-tariff, bringing the total applicable duties and tariffs to 55% once the change takes effect.

This change affects customers in Canada who are shipping cards from COMC to a Canadian address. It does not affect consignments, the COMC Mailbox, or other COMC services, which customers can continue to use as usual.

Because the tariff is assessed when cards cross the U.S.-Canada border—not when a shipment request is submitted— new Canadian shipment requests placed now should be expected to be subject to the additional 50% counter-tariff.

If you already have a shipment request in progress:

For existing Canadian shipment requests with an August or September due date, we are expediting fulfillment so those shipments can cross the border before the September 8 effective date. Exceptions may apply if there are issues with an individual order that prevent it from being completed in time.

For shipment requests with later due dates, we are still assessing our options and will provide additional guidance as soon as we can.

If you are considering a new shipment request:

Please plan for 55% in total duties and tariffs to apply. Even if you submit your request before September 8, the tariff will apply if your shipment crosses the border on or after the effective date.

You can also consider using COMC’s Buy Now, Ship Later model. Cards you purchase can remain securely stored in your COMC account, giving you the option to wait to request shipment to Canada while the tariff situation continues to develop.

How the tariff will be charged:

For COMC shipping options where duties are prepaid at checkout, applicable counter-tariffs will be included with the duties and taxes shown when you submit your shipment request.

For Express shipping, where duties are not prepaid, applicable duties, taxes, tariffs, and carrier handling charges will be collected by the carrier when your shipment is delivered.

As of today, we have updated COMC.com so applicable duties, taxes, and counter-tariffs are reflected during checkout for shipping options where those charges are prepaid. We’ll continue monitoring the situation closely and keep our Canadian customers informed as additional information becomes available.

If you have questions about your COMC account or an existing shipment request, please contact COMC Customer Support.

Thank you for collecting with COMC.
